Creation in situ. Variable dimensions: possibility of carrying out an installation of this type in spaces from 1 m2 to 10 000 m2. Exhibition view Center of Contemporary Art of Lacoux, Hauteville, France.
Une vue is an installation made during a residency at CACL. This work, with acrylic painting and charcoal on thick paper, is composed of 16 panels on two adjacent walls of 760 cm and 800 cm. The total format is 1560 cm x 190 cm, or 61m2.
The viewer is literally immersed in the landscape. This walk within the work creates sensory and intellectual round trips: real / representation; inside Outside ; Still image / motion. "The landscape implies depth, the feeling that we can move forward inside it, which is hardly ever the case here [in Claire Chauvel's work]. Nature is perceived in masses. Immersion looks practically like a bowl, and the landscape is constructed step by step, mapped to scale 1, at once measured and represented." Anne Malherbe
