« Nathalie de La Grandville cultivates a significant number of paradoxes. These serve her need to express herself through an almost pictographic process. A process that, not only never excludes contradiction, but would certainly promote it. Her logic, that she claims loud and clear, escapes any reason. This does not mean that her compositions are absurd or abandoned to nonsense. Their constructrion proceeds from a sequence of figurative characters, which sketch a narrative. But it is unthinkable to only read the work of Nathalie de La Grandville as a territory haunted by characters described in an unpredictable perspective. We found ourselves trapped by a poetry of idiosyncrasy : these characters have become, under her brushes, the protagonists of the story she made of painting. »
